Right at the end when he goes to grab the rectangles, if you slow the video down and pause it you can see what looks like blurred out squares where the rectangles were. Then there is some weird distortion around his right hand directly after this. It looks like some kind of video effect to me. If it's not i would say there's some kind of crazy mirror effect or something

I do not think he had the ad vanta ge of video effects. That would be the ultimate face palm. But he is very good at haydn his cards. He had the audience in his pocket the whole time.

@Noemoc, other similar acts have been made with video effects. Which of course is face palm and completelely misses the point of "magic".

Yeah, but he won an award at a Live event. I was thinking the same thing at first, but the award at the end could not be faked I don't think.

Thanks for decrypting your cryptic message, truth be told I had no idea who you meant... but didnâ€™t want to say anything for fear of looking daft in front of others (especially Dave). I like your puns. It could be that the act was done without video editing but that the release for the public was edited to "reproduce" the effect the live audiance "had". Very black cloth is indeed an ad- vantage. Captain desillusion to the rescue.

A "magician" on America's Got Talent did something similar to this. It was all post-production video effects. So I have my doubts about this being real.

I don't think they would give him the championship if it was video effects. Also, a lot of it is inspired by (or similar to) what Shin Lim did on Fool Us where there are no camera tricks (or if there are, the whole premise of the show is lost). A lot of it finds its roots in the card mastery of the likes of Lennart Green. This is just a combination of classic slight of hand, the latest materials technology, a ton of skill, and years and years of practice.

I can't recall a single documented case where camera tricks were used with a live audience. The whole audience would have to be in on it in that case.
