So light makes it transparent? I'm guessing this because... lesser or almost no light makes glas less transparent or gives it a black mirror effect

Question: Because of the glass reflecting my image. Why can I not look outside when I'm sitting in a bus/train at midnight? Question 2: Why can I then see through the glass when I put my face close to the glass and hold my hand next to my forehead?
