Moral of the story: don’t put your faith in a bloated, inept government and don’t trust the duplicitous media (so-called). I see they spent a few seconds talking about H1N1 in ‘09, while most of the time time was spent talking to the two-faced Fauci in ‘05. That’s curious. And where are the clips of those hard-hitting 60 Minutes interviews with the prior President or prior administration’s officials? They don’t exist. And why didn’t the previous administration restock the PPE when they were advised to do so? It’s clear 60 Minutes has a narrative to drive.

The comparison to H1N1 isn't worthwhile because the dynamics behind that virus were very different. But you're right that 60 minutes is being unfairly critical of Trump's early response to the virus because they're trying to pin all the blame on him. That's what they do.

The simple reality is that this thing came out of nowhere and caught EVERYONE off guard. To suggest that Trump should have shut the whole country down in the midst of Super Tuesday voting across the country is absurd. It was a rapidly changing situation and even Tony Fauci didn't know it would escalate as fast as it did. That combined with bad data from WHO created the situation we're in today.

Was the response perfect? No. Did we make hard choices, do hard things, and improve matters a great deal? I believe so. Are we doing the calculus of weighing harm and benefits to all concerned the right way? We won't know for quite a while yet and of course in hind sight we will see we should have done less of this and more of that. Do I now find Donald Trump to be a nice person and skillful leader? Nope, but personally I have found the media coverage (on all sides) to be horrifying. We need to work together. Have some honest dialogue. Support people making hard decisions, support people putting their lives on the line to help others. The incessant second guessing, blame assignment, hysteria whipping, clever fallacy laden question asking, and grand standing have been pretty disgusting. That's for the post game show folks. Let's try to get our eye on the ball and keep it there. This ain't over yet. It's going to be quite a while before Dave and I can hit the clubs again I'm afraid.

It's only a few minutes long, but this lady is absolutely right: https://youtu.be/c47KVyz0Gsg
