Trees aren't made of carbon dioxide. They're made from the carbon that is taken from carbon dioxide but it forms a completely new molecule.

This video is embarrassing to humanity, how has everyone interviewed slipped through the most basic biology taught at primary level, and why haven't they educated themselves on the matter.

I totally agree with you Henry! They don't even speak of mitosis which is the first consequence of the fact that plants can grow and become heavier ! That's just a question of cells that multiplies themselves in the apex of the plant, consequence of photosynthesis, water and nutriments! sorry for my english, i'm french

It doesn't make any sense to say it's made out of air (or carbon dioxide). When the photosynthesis makes CO2 and water into sugar and oxygen the tree is..... made out of sugar.

The trees absorb the CO2 out of the air and through the miracle of photosynthesis, light adds enough energy to separate the carbon and oxygen atoms and the tree then absorbs the carbon which it uses to grow. The tree also uses it's roots to get some mineral nutrients that are suspended in the ground water (which originally came from the sky as well). If you want to hear it from an expert, check out this short clip of Nobel winning Physicist, Richard Feynman explaining how trees grow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1pIYI5JQLE
