I've seen this footage before, but the reasons for keeping them insulated wasn't violence and viruses. They seemed to be concerned with not affecting their natural development — as if exposure to other human beings (who are every bit on the same level as them) was unnatural.

Scully is really laying on the nostalgia... as perverse and engineered as this situation seems, I hope that these people will be allowed to continue squatting on that prime real estate.
