This is hilarious. Talk about slicing and dicing a conversation up. Just read the transcript yourself and it's a big fat nothing burger. https://www.theepochtimes.com/full-transcript-of-call-between-trump-and-zelensky-released_3094727.html This is just RussiaGate 2.0

I agree that it is simple enough to just read the transcript and that is what people should do. But after reading the transcript I am left worried that POTUS is trying to get foreign leaders to participate in our political process. You might argue that this is not what was happening but I think a reasonable argument can be made that it is exactly what was happening. And people should be able to raise the alarm without being threatened or called names (though that has to do with the aftermath of the call, not the call itself). But on the other hand, the democrats should not whip themselves into a drooling lather before getting the facts.

I don't know how the above response to Dave got posted under "guest". It was my response. Since it seems to be attracting down votes I figure I should take proper ownership of it. =)

I think it’s the pot calling the kettle black. Trump was literally spied on (sorry, ‘confidential human source’), *during* the election by our intelligence agencies with Russian dirt (Steele dossier) used as the justification. So the whole notion of impeaching him for saying, “hey that thing Biden did looked terrible to me†is absurd.

I can see why that would strike you as absurd. But I can also see why others have grave concerns about the interaction (and it seems those others may include White House staff and members of the intelligence committee). I also agree that the democrats are likewise politically motivated. (Where was all this indignation when Hilary Clinton had set up a private email server at her house for conducting government business as secretary of state? What dealings with foreign officials was SHE trying to keep from the public eye? And why don't I hear any democrats saying, "maybe we better look into these concerns about the Bidens before we try to elect Joe Biden only to find out later he really did try to obstruct justice on behalf of his son.") But do we just shrug and say "wellp, that's the way Washington works!" Perhaps. But if we just abandon commitment to (1) decorum, (2) moral principles, (3) rule of law, it seems to me we are on a downward spiral. Note that I am certainly NOT saying one party or the other has the moral high ground--they certainly do not. But someday we need to start holding our leaders more accountable. Maybe today is not that day, or maybe this issue is not that issue.

If anybody really had grave concerns about the call they would have voted for impeachment already. We've all got the transcript (and public statements). What more needs to be investigated? And why are the witnesses who HAVE testified being done so behind closed doors and their testimony selectively leaked? The whole thing is a scam. Meanwhile, real corruption and actual spying and collusion with Russia by the dems in 2016 goes unreported. You can't make this stuff up. Hookers peeing on Obamas bed? Yeah, let's get a FISA warrant on Trump campaign aids to investigate *that* 🙄

Also, just for perspective we’re talking about removing a guy from office for this one single paragraph ——> “The other thing, There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it… It sounds horrible to me.†— video Trump was referencing ——> https://youtu.be/Q0_AqpdwqK4?t=3160

Why would they have classified it if they normally never do this? It means something smells, and it indeed does...

If this was the only call they classified, yes. But they started classifying *all* calls with foreign leaders after the call he had with Australia leaked. It was an effort to stop leaks. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/effort-to-shield-trumps-call-with-ukrainian-leader-was-part-of-broader-secrecy-effort/2019/09/26/dc3a482c-e076-11e9-be96-6adb81821e90_story.html

The dems will suffer greatly for attempting to damage him.

AlanB1530: that says enough about your understanding of democracy. But it is the same here in Germany, the Nazis are coming back to power and they are saying the same thing about their political opponents. Even political murder is starting up with that justification, what a crazy world.
