At first I really thought it was a series of scale model scenes, with stop motion photography animation. But the people were real -- so I thought they were real videos of people, scaled down and added into the stop motion. Then I realized how much detail was in the "model" - leaves of trees, bricks in buildings, supports and boards in scaffolds, fruit in market stands, etc., etc. that I finally realized this is actual real life video, shot with a wide angle lens to mimic the "macro" look of close up photography, and with video editing of the lighting and textures to make everything look like models, then with frames removed to mimic stop motion. All in all, an extremely well done composition. Lots of great talent went into this. Bravo!!

I agree with the first part, I thought at first that all of this were small models, and only after I realized that it was a real footage. But after I've read your post, there is something I don't understand. Where did you saw traces or any similarities with the stop motion technique? Video is simply fast-forwarded and nothing else. Talking about the video, I believe that they did some after effects with lights and everything. (I couldn't tell because I'm total noob on that subject) I also voted down on this, cause I don't see anything interesting in it. I understand that someone spent a lot of time creating this, but in my book that's not the argument for something to be good. As I see it, it's a plain video, showing ... well, I wouldn't say nothing, but random scenes that are rather boring.

this is an effect called "tilt shift" - can be achieved with special lenses and/or not so advanced photoshopping ;)
