  Send the slowest two over (10 mins), "you" run over to get the lamp (11mins) and run back (12 mins), then the lab assistant and "you" cross back over (14 mins).

That does not work: Anyone crossing must either hold the lantern or stay right next to it. So "you" can not run over to get the lamp.

There is another (similar) solution: You and the lab assistant cross the bridge (2 minutes), the lab assistant goes back (4 minutes), the professor and the janitor cross the bridge (14 minutes), "you" come back (15 minutes), "you" and the lab assistant cross the bridge (17 minutes).
