You can work out how he does the thumb thing at 1:09 where you can see that when he asks the guy to clench his fist he seperates his left hand completely an turns it the other way round so his elbow is facing inwards rather than outwards. Then he can simply turn his thumbs up to the top.

Absolute brilliance! People have done "better" tricks, but boy did he sell them! The first wasn't that terribly difficult, but the comedic timing, crowd interaction... brilliant.
