It's impossible to say what you would do in a situation you weren't in. But I can't for the life of me imagine how I would ever obey orders to stay in my CABIN and wait for help on a SINKING SHIP!!!!!! The main deck and surrounding waters should have had hundreds of people visible when the first boat came on the scene. Screw the captain's orders, I'm out of here!
