Scythe wins for the first 90 seconds. Brushcutter wins if you have more than a tiny patch of grass to cut. Look how tired that scythe user is after just that itty bitty bit of progress! It's like a competition custom made for the scythe to win. Still awesome though.

  I would say if you have to cut a much larger patch, neither of these are the right tool to use.
