The real explosion showed in the video was 10 times better looking on camera than the fake one. The effect of the shockwave is what sells it (we all saw videos of recent Beirut explosion where you felt the power).

that video above was a truck full of propane tanks. The point of Toms video was that when you see "flames", that is just the gas burning off, wasting energy.
