Cool demo, but I wish it had gone deeper into what exactly the thing is and how it works.

IIUC, it is a wireless accelerometer that senses movement on the turn table and then controls a digital playback device based on that movement. So you can "scratch", rewind, speed up, slow down, etc. as if you are playing a record, but without the record. It is much less sensitive to bumping, vibration from speakers, etc. than a record player. It seems nice for retrofitting turntables...but I do not see the advantage over digital DJ systems with turn-table-like controllers (except that maybe this is quite a bit cheaper if you already have a great system you are used to).
