Yes. The point is that if he had been skiing alone he would have been trapped and suffocated or frozen to death. Even if he was in a recoverable position, with the panic his oxygen consumption goes way up and with snow falling down in his face he could easily have passed out and not woken up again. And if his father had skiied down below him, he would have had limited time to hear/locate him before he passed out. Surely not the nearest death experience you could find on youtube, but nonetheless a dangerous situation and one that highlights the hazards of skiiing virgin snow.

People are more resilient than that. He would have gotten out all by himself. I understand he was a little spooked but he was in no danger at all. Had he hit the tree trunk it would have been an other story...now THAT kills.

No, this highlights the dangers of inexperienced skiers trying stuff they can't do. And, the only reason this is a dramatic and dangerous situation is that the kid is panicking (not saying i wouldn't).

The caption "Never Ski Alone" is a bit overarching and alarmist, I think.

I have nearer death experiences on my drive to work every morning. Could have skipped us forward to the 'action' there imo.
