oh this is stupid the shear heat increase of the ice then turning to a extremely rapidly decompressing gas causes this much like heating a can of compressed gas till it explodes, any GCSE student knows this and it's pretty obvious (to someone who knows a bit about chemistry) and also i think the word brainiac springs to mind hear....
