If Simon had it memorized in 27 seconds and the other guy had it in 40ish, why did the other guy win? The video must be missing some details somewhere

  As he said its the last of a row of events, so probably the other guy was ahead by some points or time and the 20 sec difference wasnt enough to win.

It's the combined time to memorize them and reorganize the new deck.
