Is this seriously best of youtube standard? It's just some guy replacing the chime...

well, it's some guy replacing the chime with a chime he custom made for it playing some 1980's gold, and if you want you can (probably) get one on kickstarter and program it yourself with your own favorite tune. So it checks the "interesting hack" and "weird" boxes pretty well.
