Most of us would probably never see how a starfish does that if he hadn't flipped it over. It wasn't overly such big a habitat intrusion. This is a good video.

This was very interesting; the man did not kill or harm the starfish in any way and this was only in the interest of science. Stop complaining about it.

Yeahhh! let's all start doing things like this... small habitat intrusion or not... You just don't need to touch it. All toerist think that small intrusions like these are no problem, but just look at the reefs at diving hot spots... all dead white. It's just a shame

There was a diver....like to see the reaction of a starfish lying on his back...: look, how cute to see!! Just do it again, to take a nice shot for youtube! Shit...no good view, over again....and over....and over (the starfish is just feeling a typical dizzy). But the fifth shot was a good one, let's go to the next fish or thing to play! Afther the diver, comes another one.... looking at the funny starfish! ...thinking the same......doing the same....playing the same. And the starfish.....couldn't turn round anymore afther touching by all the of the 'goodwilling, interesting of science' people, who only think about their own pleasure and don't respect the peaceful paht of the seaworld.

I think you're exaggerating. It is clear that starfish was buried in the bottom, and that he flipped it only once. You're taking it too personally.

Think you don't understand the message....before you get a divers certificate, you agree and promise to respect and don't touch the underwaterworld. So yes, I take it personally when I see many divers touching and playing with the seaworld like it is a game.

All good things are done in the name of science. Secondly if you had bother to do your research you would realize this is not some moron mucking around in the ocean but rather a professional diver.

A professional diver without the skills of respect. A professional diver would never never never do and show playing like this and suggest this idea to another one.

Understand why it is a rule. Granted i have no Scuba diving experience and very little knowledge but understand this. The most probable reason not to touch any sea life is A) You might hurt or kill the sea life. B) You might disturb it from its regular behaviors. In the video we can clearly see the star fish A) Alive and unharmed B) Exhibiting normal behaviors. Also on that note, a diver even if he was leaving sea life alone will disturb them from there normal behaviors making point reason B invalid. The other reason for your rule may be for the divers sake as the sea life may be dangerous poisonous or aggressive. In the video we clearly see the diver unharmed. Finally i can find no credible reference to your rule and i'm beginning to think its made up.

Reasonable divers respect the rule never too touch anything underwater, simple as that. Sadly there are also unreasonable divers. And if this is supposed to be science this diver is lacking 50 years behind in his biology skills. Jacques Cousteau already showed the starfish's behaviour like 50 years ago. A nice experiment to think about a bit: Let's lay 'Mystery' on her/his back and watch what happens. Unbelievable, Mystery rises up again. All in the name of 'science'. Very interesting, but was Mystery even asked if she/he felt like being put on her/his back. Let's ask the Starfish the same...

Wow. What a reaction to such a simple thing. The starfish wasn't harmed, nor the diver. LEAVE IT AT THAT. Was there anything like this on Youtube before this person added this? Probably not. Most people learned something from this.
