65 and older death rates from falls last year 29,668. I recommend 65 and older stop standing up for 4 weeks. It might save your life.

Again, the point is NOT that there is right now, on March 18 2020, a large risk presented by COVID-19. Yes, many more people this year have died of Influenza. And car accidents. And falls. The point is that if the mortality rate from COVID-19 really is 2-3% (which maybe it isn't, but maybe it is) and we do not slow it down or stop it, health care resources will be overwhelmed and millions will die. The incidence rate in the US yesterday (March 17) was higher than the worst day in China's outbreak (ignoring the Feb 12 reporting anomaly). We are not in control of the situation and if it remains uncontrolled the danger is real. It's too late to significantly curb influenza (except by vaccination--please get vaccinated), but it (maybe) isn't too late to curb COVID-19, or at least slow its spread until a vaccine is available or until health care resources have ramped up to respond to the spike in demand.

We're finding that we need to teach grown people how to properly wash their hands, do we think a lesson on selflessness is going to do anything?
