This is pretty neat actually. Once this craft is perfected and I get myself a 3D printer and the materials necessary to use, I could then create copies of my record collection so that I can still listen to my music without having to run my originals. True, I could just make glue or silicone copies that are much cheaper, but at least with a 3D printer I don't have to put my records in the way of being damaged, as well as fixing any scratches found on the original vinyl, which would of transcended onto the glue copy.

If you listen to records because they "sound better" (which they don't) and yet you are using a 3D printer to "save your originals", then you're really missing the point. Buy a CD.
