Fake. 80 000 volts from a 9 volt battery? The power level of the "shock" will be so low the person will not even be able to feel it. Makes a nice marketing tool having visible arcing though.

it may be possible. a 9-volt battery has enough current to kill a person (about .1 amps) however, the resistance of our skin is so high that when we touch a battery close to zero current flows over our skin (resistance decreases when our skin gets wet, ie toaster in bathtub situations). so, the outer jacket material must have a very low resistance.

I would agree if the voltage were still 9 volts, but they said they up stepping the voltage to 80 000 volts, so 0.1 A at 9 V becomes only 11 micro-Amps at 80 kV. Overall available power must be conserved. That amount of current going directly through your heart might be an issue, but this is an external application. This is not enough current to really harm anyone (especially given the skin resistance you mention). It will maybe give a light tickle, but wouldn't make you let go or hurt you in any way.
