I feel this question will pale in comparison to Dave's, nonetheless, does anyone know what drone he is using?

Ah. The elusive Comeon has blessed with a single syllable of his incisive wisdom, leaving us hungry for more as always. For more information it looks like the specs are here: http://paulnurkkala.com/nurks-gear/. (BTW note my entry for “shortest post ever†above.)

Thanks Noemoc, I now need to find someone who specialises in edgy comedy to illustrate how all the parts go together. If anyone knows someone like this, please call out........

These drones are typically built by their pilots using individual parts from hobby shops. You choose the size of chassis you want (his looks to be 100-150mm), which determines your propeller size (3" probably). You choose motors that fit your props, and motor controllers that control the power to each. The power comes from Li-Po batteries. A flight controller (computer) collects information about the quad's orientation, gets signals from a receiver, and tells each motor how fast to rotate. Your receiver takes commands from your transmitter. The quad also has its own transmitter for sending video from an onboard camera back to the goggles, where you can fly the drone in first person as if you were sitting in it.

Bloody hell, I was thinking about asking Dave to build one.... but forget that, in this case I'm asking you. :) Great info, thanks.

His website says he uses a Crossfire receiver and transmitter - these are known for extremely long range.
