That's a very interesting experience. It's actually the opposite of what happened to me at a hotel in Kenting, Taiwan. We locked our passports and various valuables inside but promptly forgot our password. We talked to the hotel and they actually have a safe cracker on call that they use for situations like that. So the safe cracker drove down to the hotel and it took him about 25 minutes to open the safe.

^ Haha, they probably just knew they could get money out of you by hiring a 'safe cracker' :p
