During winter, surfaces (such as door knobs) are cold and viruses can survive on cold surfaces long enough to be picked up by those who touch the surfaces next. In hot weather, heat and sun kill surface viruses before they can be passed. Also, cold weather makes skin on hands cold and viruses survive long enough for you to touch your nose. In hot weather, the warmth of the hands and face allow viruses only to live a short time.
