This is mildly amusing, but I do think there's a lot of hysteria around the supposed "threat" of AI. It's all a bunch of hogwash.

  Agreed. I was always perplexed by the bruhaha over Deep Blue defeating Kasparov. Who taught Deep Blue to play chess? Humans. I might have been concerned if Deep Blue then turned around and said it was not sure how to reconcile the joy it felt over its victory with its guilt over making Kasparov feel disappointment.

with each new technology there is a threat and an opportunity.. ie. Internet, smartphones, drones,... Someone said with nuclear power, you can light a country or destroy it.

  Yeah, but AI is hardly a new technology. It's just algorithms doing what humans tell it to do. This idea that it can start making independent decisions is silly.

  Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over. Meanwhile, I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.
