The BART employee in this video is actually just doing her job, switching the direction of the escalator to prepare for the rush of commuters coming out of the station in the evening. This same procedure occurs at every other BART station entrance/exit where there is only one escalator. This video is only getting attention due to the weight of the employee being filmed, which I find distasteful. I recommend that you remove it from this blog and not video it any additional attention.

  the rush coming out of the station? then why did she change the direction to go down INTO the station?

Okay blah, so I misstated the direction of the commute rush (people leaving SF in the afternoon will mostly be entering the station, not exiting, and vice versa in the morning). That doesn't change the fact that this woman is being subjected to ridicule simply for doing her job.

I would observe the shallow shadows of the people as cast by the sun which indicates the sun is well overhead the subjects. Therefore i would deduce a time other than late afternoon. Secondly, if the bart employee was just doing her job then why is she carrying a shopping bag? it would appear that she is just arriving for work as the second shift of the day ... therefore mid day. but i agree that she is being filmed because of her weight. Had the filmer continued filming to see if the escalator reversed after she finished her ride down, the conclusion would be known.
