I'm Korean and I suffer badly from the asian flush. My first attemp to get drunk was at 14 years old. I hit 3 shots of cognac and while I thought was drunk my body had a violent chain reaction, I almost died. I felt like my blood was boiling with a massive headache and a had a very hard time to breathe. I'm now 35 years old and the reaction is still the same. There is a soft counter to the flush: Any drugs with bronchodilator properties help to ease the symptoms but it is far from a total fix. The most popular drug is marijuana but not the stuff you'll find in the street because of the high amount of cbd in it. You should see your physician to get something matching with your level of reaction. If you intend to treat your symptoms with marijuana or other plants with same properties, I recommend vapor over combustion. I'm not an expert of the subject but my flush is very senstive so I managed all my life to not get affected from this « curse ». When I kiss a girl with a breath filled with alcool and I flush because of my defecient genes, you have to get ready :) I hope it will helps other who has the same problem. Again, I'm not an expert, just a guy who has learned to live with it.
