Because the education system many of us were in teaches this equation only as an abstract useless concept, therefore they INTENTIONALLY make it more difficult than it is. Which is why many people hate math. And why the education system is not actually about educating people.

No, I've seen this exact example like 30 times in my life. It's right there in the middle school math books to exemplify this. Similar examples also exist for example for the Pythagorean Theorem or whatever. Just google it, it's right there. I can't believe you haven't seen this before.
