720p vs 1080i HD Explained
For those of you still wondering about the difference between the two high definition broadcast standards, here is a simple explanation.

Many, if not all modern LCD tv's deinterlace 1080i broadcasts, thus effectively showing 1080p. Wich easily looks superior to 720p...

  If you would have at least watched the video, you should understand that it's impossible to "effectively show" 1080i as 1080p. If you mash the two fields from 1080i into single frames, you're still stuck with both the blurry image AND the lower framerate.

yes showing 1080p effectively but in no better quality than 720p. Because what your TV makes up isn't real and you can have a satisfactory image at times but looking at a ball flying looks like a blurry white piece of soap. Even the best upscaler can't deliver non-transfered real image data. My opinion is that if your TV is big and for most of the time the image is not in movement you can clearly benefit from the 50% of lines you get more on 1080i but the actual frame resolution being lower than 720p. But if you are watching sports events you should switch to 720p.
